It is a clinical entity where the raised intraocular pressure can damage the optic nerve leading to blindness. Patients with glaucoma undergo regular follow up with ;

IOP recording by Goldmann’s Applanation Tonometer at each visit.
Angle of anterior chamber evaluation by gonioscopy.
Regular visual field recording by Humphrey field analyser.
Detailed optic nerve evaluation at each visit.

Patients are managed on medical terms. Those who require surgery, undergo procedures like ;

  1. Trabeculectomy with mitomycin – C
  2. Trabeculectomy with releasable sutures
  3. Laser peripheral iridotomy
  4. Combined procedure like Trabeculectomy and cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation.

Lions Club International

The Lions Club International Foundation has liberally donated US $ 66695 for the development of this hospital under project SF-732. As a part of this fund, the first installment of US $ 44640 (Rs.21,83,362) was released in 2003 and the remaining part of the fund was released in 2005 out of which Ophthalmic equipments required for the hospital were purchased.
